Custom Power Supply & SMPS Design and Manufacturing
The right power supply makes your product safe, efficient and reliable. P&A International engineers, prototypes and delivers custom power supplies — external AC-DC adapters, enclosed and open-frame switching supplies, on-board SMPS and USB-PD chargers — built exactly to your input range, outputs, efficiency and safety-compliance requirement.
As an engineering-led contract manufacturer founded as an engineering consultancy, we assign one dedicated engineer to your project from design review to qualified samples in 10–15 working days, then scale into volume through our vetted partner-factory network, where every supplier is ISO 9000 certified or better.

Power supplies we make

Desktop & external AC-DC adapters
Efficient external supplies for portable, consumer and medical devices — to DoE Level VI / CoC Tier 2 with low no-load power.

Wall plug-in adapters
Compact plug-in supplies with interchangeable AC blades (US/EU/UK/AU) for international products and field deployment.

USB & USB-PD chargers
USB-A and USB-C Power Delivery chargers with the protocols, profiles and protections your device negotiation needs.

Enclosed & open-frame switching
Industrial enclosed and open-frame SMPS for embedding in equipment — single or multi-output, convection or fan-cooled.

Why engineers & buyers choose PA
For design engineers
A true design partner — one dedicated engineer, topology and magnetic design, efficiency and thermal optimisation, and protections engineered in. We design to your input range, outputs, envelope and safety class, not just a catalogue match.
For purchasing
Low-risk scalability — predictable 10–15-day prototypes, flexible MOQ from one-off to production, target-cost DFM, a single point of contact, and a vetted ISO 9000+ partner network managed end-to-end by P&A. No hand-offs, no surprises.
3 easy steps to get started
Send us your spec
Send input range, outputs, efficiency and safety targets. One dedicated engineer reviews it and confirms the design with you.
Proposed design & quote
You receive a proposed design and indicative pricing — typically within 48 hours — to review and refine together.
Samples & production
Qualified samples with full test data in 10–15 working days; on approval we scale into volume through our partner network.

Choosing the right power supply
Getting the power architecture right early saves costly re-spins and compliance delays. A few decisions shape every design — and sharing this detail lets us quote and prototype faster:
| Form factor | External desktop/wall adapter for portable and consumer gear; enclosed for industrial; open-frame to embed; on-board SMPS where the converter lives on your PCB. |
| Topology | Flyback for low-to-mid power; forward / LLC resonant for higher power and efficiency; add PFC above ~75 W to meet harmonic limits. |
| Efficiency | Specify DoE Level VI / CoC Tier 2 and no-load power for external units — it drives topology, magnetics and thermal design. |
| Safety class | IEC/UL 62368-1 for ITE/AV, 60601 for medical (2× MOPP where needed); creepage, clearance and isolation built to class. |
| Protections | Define OVP, OCP, OTP, SCP and hold-up time up front so they are designed in, not bolted on later. |
Topology quick-select
| Up to ~75 W | Flyback — simple, cost-effective |
| 75–300 W | Forward / two-switch forward, with PFC front-end |
| Above ~300 W | LLC resonant, with PFC — highest efficiency |
| Multi-output / low ripple | add post-regulation or synchronous rectification |
| Efficiency target | DoE Level VI / CoC Tier 2 drives topology + magnetics |
What to send us for a fast, accurate quote
The more of this you can share, the quicker we can return a proposed design and price:
- Input voltage range and frequency (or DC input)
- Output voltage(s), current/wattage per rail, regulation and ripple targets
- Single or multi-output; adjustable, remote-sense or digital-control needs
- Efficiency target (DoE VI / CoC Tier 2) and standby-power limit
- Safety and EMC standards (62368-1, 60601, CE/UKCA, EMC class)
- Protections, hold-up time, inrush and isolation requirements
- Connectors, plug type, mechanical envelope, cooling and IP rating
- Any MeanWell or other reference part, target cost and annual volume
Working from a reference part or a sample is fine — our engineer will design a drop-in equivalent or an improved alternative to your specification.
